Wow… can’t believe it’s almost the end of the semester! I guess time flies faster when you’re busier. This semester has been so crazy! It was a challenge juggling between school, job and life. I have had some of the downest moments and some of the best moments in my life happening all within this semester. I must say this has been a very memorable semester.

Even though this semester hasn’t ended yet, I’m already looking forward to the Spring 2011 semester!

I’ll be taking policy formulation (aka the mother of all business courses.. bring it on!), forensic accounting II and yoga! Yea.. yoga is so out of place here but I decided that I should exercise more : ) I’m also planning on returning to the rock-hard-abs group fitness class~ I’ve been slacking off on that..

Speaking of classes, I have a little trick that I always do when I register for classes. I always register for ALL of the possible classes that I want to take. I do this so that I’ll be able to check out what the classes are like during the first week of the new semester before I decide which classes are the ones that I really wanna take. The first week of the new semester is the drop/add week so that as long as you drop the classes that you don’t want during this week, you won’t have to pay the tuition for those classes that you dropped.

I’m also applying for an auditing internship! So, if I get it, I’ll be doing the internship in addition to those classes! I really hope I get it! Wish me luck XD

Ooh.. I’m also looking forward to the UWF swimming pool to be done with its renovation! UWF has amazing health and leisure facilities~

For those of you who are thinking about attending UWF in the Spring 2011 semester, I think you should totally do it! I think UWF has a great gym, swimming pool in addition to its academics. Come check it out for yourself!

Can’t wait til turkey dayyyy! : D

Speaking of turkey day, I think of the things that I’m thankful for in my life.

1. My family & friends

My parents are amazing! I’m so thankful that they made the decision back in 1996 to apply for the visa which allows me and my sister to come study here in the US. I’m also thankful for having my aunts, Sofia & Linda, helping me get situated to the school here. My sister, Judy, is awesome too! She’s always so supportive and offers me advices. Even though she’s my younger sister, she knows more than I do sometimes.

 Family!

In addition to my “real” family, I also have some school family! : ) Reina, Chad, Clair. They teach me so much in life!

 Chad & Reina!

 Clair!

Friendsssss~~~ There are too many to list lol I love being able to be myself around them. I love that we can finish each other’s sentences. I love that we can just be like kids even though we’re already in the 20s hahaha : ) Can’t really express how much I appreciate them!

 in DC!

2. Professors

Thanks for answering my endless questions! I really do believe that the professors make or break my experience with a class.

3. Piano

Playing the piano always gives me a way to vent when I need to. I play it when I feel happy, sad, angry, or just for no reason. Ahh.. it’s amazing what music can do : )

here’s a little clip of me and TLT playing the piano! : D

 TLT!

4. Microwave

Haha~ I really do! Last time when I had a bonfire with friends, we were trying sooooo hard to make a fire. It took us like an hour or so just to get the fire going (it’s all fun but just never thought that it would be so hard to make fire lol) We tried to roast marshmallow to make smores and cook hotdogs over the fire. I felt like my face was done before the hotdog was done lol Recently, me and Judy tried making smores the “modern” way with the microwave. We just pop it in for 10 seconds and we had perfectly made smores! LOL So, we decided that next time when we make bonfires, we’re just going to sing a song or something instead of trying to make food : ) haha!

5. Post-it notes

These are like my other brain. I won’t be able to survive without them XD

So, there’s my moment of appreciation~

Now, it’s back to the food~~ This year, we’re actually having turkey instead of a BBQ like we usually do. That’s something new! Yayyy XD

For the 3rd year that I’ve stayed at UWF, I’ve learned many things.

1. Writing Lab

When I first started college, I thought that I have sufficient knowledge in grammar for writing papers and stuff. I remember hearing my friends talking about writing lab and stuff, but I was always like, nahh I’m good, I don’t need to go to the writing lab. A class that I’m taking right now changed my mind. We need to summarize articles and come up with a one-page executive summary for each of the articles we read. The grade I got for my first executive summary was not pretty, so the professor suggested that I take advantage of the writing lab. So, I started taking my article summaries to the writing lab and have them check my grammar before I turn them in. The writing lab turn out to be more helpful than I thought! I started getting better grades on those article summaries. I also found out that the writing lab also holds grammar sessions in which they teach you grammar in a particular topic (i.e. commas, pronouns, apostrophes…etc.) All you have to do is make an appointment with them!

2. Career Services

Career services has helped me format my resume to make it look professional. They have also helped me get a couple of interview opportunities! Whenever a local company is looking to hire student interns, they would ask the Career Service people for suggestions on some potential students who are looking for internship opportunities. So, since I go bother the Career Service people a lot about internship opportunities, they referred me. haha~ Another thing you can do is to register for JasonQuest which is like a search engine  for internship, co-op, part-time, and full-time positions. Once you’re registered for JasonQuest, you can log-in to check and see if there are any positions available. It’s quite convenient & helpful : )

3. Student Organizations

I’m involved in 2 student organizations: 1. Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) which is a business fraternity for accounting and finance majors. BAP is all about helping students networking with both fellow accounting and finance students and potential future employers. BAP invites speakers from local companies, including Gulf Power and O’Sullivan Creel, to come to the meeting and talk a little bit about what they do in the “real world.” 2. Association for Information Systems (AIS) which is a student organization for management information systems (MIS) majors. I met some of the best people being in these 2 organizations! : )

our little AIS family : D

4. Prioritizing & Time Management

I learned to multi-task to its peak in college because of having to work at an internship while taking 4 classes. Time management and prioritizing are the two things that I have to learn. I always carry a planner and sticky notes so that I know exactly what I need to be doing or where I need to be at a certain time. Those 2 things are like part of my brain. I can’t live without them LOL!

5. Group Fitness Classes

I was sooooo excited to find out that UWF offers free group fitness classes! My favortie class is rock-hard-abs! (and nope I don’t have abs yet, but hopefully I’ll get at least the outline soon LOL) I love the instructor, John! He’s very funny and nice : ) I’ve been wanting to try the other classes, but haven’t got the chance. There are also cycling, pilates, yoga…etc.

I also heard from my sister that there are going to be zombies outside of the psychology building hunting people down O.O so don’t go there! LOL j/k

My favorite halloween tradition is to go trick-or-treating with my sister and cousin. It’s fun to dress up and go around the neighborhood asking for candies even though we’re all in college LOL We haven’t had people who noticed that we’re kinda “old” for trick-or-treating.. I guess we look young for our age XD” We also go to the halloween parties held by student organizations on campus~

This year, my plan for halloween is to try to go to some parties, but that depends on how my studying goes.. I have tests coming up.. ugh ~.~

Anyways.. HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone : )

ahh.. it’s time for midterms ~.~

not really my favorite time of the semester.. lol

My favorite studying spot though is in the library on the 4th floor at one of those cubicles beside the windows because I enjoy looking out the window when I feel like taking a break.

There are also group study rooms with a chalk board in them~ I go there whenever I need to practice for a presentation or discuss group projects~ I like drawing random pictures on the chalk board lol

Whenever I get tired of studying, I would go down to the 2nd floor and nap at one of the comfy couches there~ zZZZZ

Today though, my friend, TLT called me and asked me to go support for our friend’s sorority’s fundrasing event for osteoporosis. So, I did. I donated and got a yummy funnel cake made by my talented friend, Sarah : D

Sarah, Wendy, Juliette

Sarah, TLT, Juliette

She added extra topping on top~ raspberries, strawberries, kiwi and pudding! XD

So that was pretty good brain food~ haha

Fighting midterms! go go go : )
